How to Boot from a VHD in Windows 7

1.Open a elevated command prompt.


2.Type in the command: bcdedit /copy {current} /d "VHD_Boot". If the command succeeds, you can see a message displayed like this:




3.Take note of the CLSID number which will be used in the following step.

4.Type in the command bcdedit /set {CLSID_Number} osdevice vhd=[C:]\disk1.vhd.


5.Type in bcdedit to confirm the settings, now you have successfully booted from a VHD in Windows 7.
